The Australis software suite is designed to perform highly automated image-based
3D coordinate measurements from digital images recorded with either professional
semi-metric digital SLR cameras or consumer-grade cameras. It is equally useful
for fully automatic measurement of targeted objects to high accuracy or for
low-to-moderate accuracy semi-automatic or manual measurements in photogrammetric
networks comprising natural feature points and images from off-the-shelf cameras.
Two versions of Australis are available:
|
|
Australis 7 -
A newly developed version of Australis built upon the same GUI as iWitness
and released in late 2006. This updated and expanded version of the original
Australis offers greater productivity through its use of coded target strategies,
as well as its incorporation of automatically initiated computational sequences and its
capabilities in free-form curve generation and 3D model texturing.

Australis 6.06 -
The ‘original’ Australis which has been enhanced regularly since its initial
release in 1997. This version supports full measurement automation through
provision of an exterior orientation device and it has thus enjoyed wide use
for digital camera calibration. Australis 6.06 has an operated-controlled computational
flow which makes it ideal as a teaching tool.
